Free PDF Tools – Fast, Secure & Unlimited
Merge, split, compress, convert and edit PDFs directly in your browser. No sign-up. No uploads to any server. 100% private.
About PDFTools
PDFTools is a privacy-first, browser-based suite of 40+ free document utilities. We built this platform for people who value speed, privacy, and simplicity — without compromises.
Our Mission
We believe that essential document tools should be accessible to everyone, everywhere — without sign-ups, subscriptions, or the risk of uploading sensitive files to unknown servers. PDFTools was created to give you professional-grade PDF, Word, Excel and text processing right inside your browser, with zero friction and zero cost.
Whether you need to merge a few PDFs for a client proposal, compress a scanned contract to email size, convert a Word document to a clean PDF, or extract text from a scanned image using OCR — we give you the tool, for free, and we get out of your way.
Your Privacy Matters
Every single operation on PDFTools happens inside your browser. Your files are loaded into memory using the standard FileReader and ArrayBuffer APIs, processed locally using battle-tested open-source libraries, and then handed back to you as a download. At no point does any file — or any data derived from it — ever leave your device.
We do not use analytics scripts. We do not set tracking cookies. We do not require accounts, emails, or any identifying information to use our tools. Our servers see only the initial HTML, CSS, and JavaScript required to render the page. After that, everything happens on your machine.
Why Free, Forever
There is no hidden catch. PDFTools is a lightweight static website — it costs very little to host, and it doesn't cost us anything additional when you use it. We made it free because document tools are basic digital hygiene, like a calculator or a notepad. You shouldn't have to pay a monthly subscription to merge two PDFs.
Open Technology, Built With Care
Under the hood, PDFTools is crafted in pure HTML, CSS and JavaScript. We rely on well-maintained open-source libraries — pdf-lib, PDF.js, mammoth, JSZip, Tesseract.js, jsPDF and SheetJS — each loaded only when you actually use a tool that needs it, keeping the initial page fast and lean.

Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 17, 2026
PDFTools is built around one simple principle: your files and your data belong to you. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what information we do and do not collect.
1. Data We Collect
We do not collect any personal data. We do not ask for your name, your email address, your phone number, or any other identifying information in order to use any of our 40+ tools. You can access and use the entire PDFTools platform completely anonymously.
2. File Processing
Every file you load into PDFTools — PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, images, plain text — is processed entirely within your web browser. When you drop a file onto a tool, your browser reads it into its own local memory using the standard FileReader and ArrayBuffer APIs. The file is then transformed by JavaScript running on your device.
We never transmit your file to any server. We do not have the technical ability to see, store, log, or inspect the contents of files you work with. When you close the browser tab, the file is gone from our reach forever.
3. Cookies & Tracking
We do not set tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party advertising, retargeting, or behavioral-analytics service. The only local browser storage we use is a single theme preference key, which remembers whether you selected light or dark mode. You can clear this at any time from your browser's settings.
4. Third-Party Libraries
To provide advanced features (such as PDF editing or OCR), PDFTools loads a small number of well-known open-source JavaScript libraries from a public CDN (jsDelivr). These libraries include pdf-lib, PDF.js, mammoth, JSZip, Tesseract.js, jsPDF and SheetJS. When your browser fetches a library from the CDN, the CDN operator (Cloudflare) may log the request as part of standard network operations. No file contents, and no personal data, are ever sent to the CDN — only a request for a public JavaScript file.
5. GDPR & International Users
Because we do not collect, store, or process personal data, there is no personal data for us to share, sell, transfer, or expose. GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations are fully respected by the design of the platform.
6. Children's Privacy
PDFTools is intended for general audiences. Because we collect no information at all, we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, or under any other age threshold.
7. Changes To This Policy
If we ever materially change how the platform works — for example, by adding optional account features — we will update this page and clearly note the change at the top. Because we keep no user list, we cannot email you about updates, so please check back occasionally.
8. Contact
If you have a question about privacy, please use our contact form.
Disclaimer
Last updated: April 17, 2026
PDFTools is provided "as is" as a free service to the public. Please read the following terms carefully before relying on our tools for important work.
1. Tool Accuracy
Our conversion, extraction, and editing tools make every reasonable effort to preserve the content, structure, and formatting of your original files. However, document formats (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, etc.) are complex and evolving specifications, and perfect round-trip conversion is not always possible. Outputs produced by automated tools should be reviewed by a human before being used in legal, financial, medical, or other high-stakes contexts.
2. Data Loss & Backup
Because file processing happens in your browser, a page refresh, a browser crash, or accidentally closing the tab can end the current session. We strongly recommend keeping an original copy of any file before processing it with PDFTools. We accept no responsibility for data loss, corruption, or accidental overwriting.
3. No Warranty
The tools, the website, and all related materials are provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use PDFTools at your own risk.
4. No Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PDFTools and its authors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the platform, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses.
5. File Format & Size Limitations
Because tools run inside your browser, very large files (typically over 200–500 MB, depending on your device) may fail to process due to memory constraints. Encrypted or password-protected files must have the password provided where applicable. Some PDFs with unusual compression, embedded fonts, or scanned images may convert imperfectly; in those cases, our OCR tool may give better results.
6. Third-Party Content
We link to external libraries and documentation. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party website.
7. Changes
We may update or remove tools from time to time to improve performance, add capabilities, or fix issues. We reserve the right to change this disclaimer without advance notice.
8. Questions
Questions about this disclaimer can be sent via our contact page.
